Another option is disk cleanup, this will keep the latest restore point and delete any others, but will not turn off system restore for the disk. Uncheck the box and click apply and then ok(this will also turn off system restore for that disk). If backup copies are being created for the drive do this: click start, type system you will see several results for "system", choose the one that just says "system" when the window opens you will need to click on "advanced system settings" on the left side of the window, then when that window opens click the tab that says "system protection" after a few seconds you should see all of your disks listed under "available disks" if the drive in question has a checkmark next to it then backups/system restore points are being created.

I am assuming you are talking about the oem recovery drive? If so, you really don't need to make a backup of it ever, that is only used to recover your system if need be.
